Lets Review: You have filled out the Student Application/Liability form. You have taken and passed the pre-solo written test. The Instructor, under FAR 61.87, designs the written test, so it applies to the aircraft you trained in and the area that you trained in. You passed the oral test, and after2-3 hours instruction, you flew solo. You have a copy of the instructors ASC exemption #6080, and a copy of FAR 103. Both of these have been explained to you. The BFI sends the Registration/Student Application, and copy of passed written exam, and your $5.00. The BFI has endorsed your logbook and given you a 10 mile radius, you can fly in. This endorsement is good for 90 days. OK! on to Pilot. |
Every Student will receive a Student Package that includes:
From this first exciting solo flight, you are on to becoming a certified pilot in Powered Parachutes.

1. Minimum of 10 hours of flight.
2. Take a ASC Pilot Written Exam, with a minimum score of 70%.
3. Properly respond to the instructors oral test on the aeronautical knowledge in areas appropriate to the vehicle used. (This is covered by the instructor).
4. The Instructor (BFI or AFI) will then send in the appropriate materials: The Pilot Registration check list, ASC Pilot Application (signed), Original of the pilot written test with 70% passed, and $25.00 registration fee (paid by student).

Third: Pass the written ASC Fundamentals of Instruction test by 80% and pass the BFI written test by 80% (exam covers FAR 103, ASC Exemption 6080, and aeronautical knowledge).
Fourth: Satisfy BFI Oral test, and perform all the flight tasks required, to the instructors satisfaction.
Fifth: The applicant must provide a vehicle which is in airworthy condition and can safely perform all required maneuvers, for the Flight Test Given by an AFI (this is a different instructor unless your current instructor has a AFI Rating).
